McDonalds’ Town Hall

The fast-food chain this week opened its biggest Melbourne CBD store at 67 Swanston Street, Melbourne CBD spread over 3 floors spread with an area of 800 sqm. The restaurant committed to this old iconic building near the south-west corner of Collins Street.

The shopfront was designed with a seamless glass facade to elegantly showcase the various levels within the building and showcase the ‘yellow staircase’ connecting each level. A sophisticated neutral Ray palette has been designed with the central element being a yellow staircase which dominates the interior and acts as the circulation spine interconnecting the 3 floors.

The kitchen is located in the basement and delivery to the ground floor counters works via a food conveyor which becomes a secondary central design and activation element.

Different seating arrangements have been meticulously crafted on each level to accommodate the diverse needs of diners. The lower levels offer quick seating options, while the higher levels are tailored for patrons seeking a more leisurely dining experience. Notably, the top floor showcases elegant tall circular banquettes as a distinctive feature.

All in all, a very exciting space that integrates itself vertically in a seamless manner. Great outcome!
